Reuters: Economy could grow in second quarter
Sentiment has turned and there is a more positive air in the economy. And there may be an extremely modest GDP growth in Q2, according to Markit, a bunch of number-crunchers who look at purchasing managers’ indices which include construction, services and manufacturing. Whether this will turn out to be the case, and reflected in the official GDP figures, remain to be seen. However it’s a good news that the recession is slowing down. Though it may be some way until a strong recovery: the Labour government’s figures are still very optimistic.
