Watching the news and reading the newspapers make for a thoroughly dispiriting start to the day. For some reason, the British media really seem to enjoy wallowing in bad news. The adage bad news sells holds true. A worse-than-expected contraction of the the economy in the second quarter, and the rise in the number of swine flu cases are the latest in the continuous stream of bad news. It almost makes you want to go out in the street, naked, and shout the end is nigh!
