Photographs Paris Église Saint-Pierre de Montmartre
Overshadowed by its showy neighbour the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, Saint-Pierre de Montmartre is nonetheless one of the oldest church buildings in Paris. It was consecrated in 1147 by Pope Eugene III, and also present were Saint Bernard (of Clairvaux) and Peter the Venerable, according to Paris illustré: nouveau guide de l’étranger et du parisien (Paris, 1867), p. 394.
