Shopping arcade in Asagaya. This photograph was taken just before 10AM, the time of the day when most shops open, so it was relatively quiet. A variety of goods are on sale in numerous shops lined on both sides, but pharmacists and food sellers dominate. As preparation for dishes on sale reaches its end, the arcade was filled with the smell of frying oil, slightly burnt soy sauce and mirin.
